What is a Concussion?
A concussion is generally considered a type of minor traumatic brain injury (TBI) that is the result of a blow to the head.
Although it may seem odd to call a TBI minor, a concussion is often classified thusly because its effects are usually short-term. It’s important to note, however, that even a temporary loss or alteration in the brain’s ability to function properly should be considered serious; many concussion symptoms are shared with more severe TBIs, and repeated concussions or head trauma can have long-term adverse effects.
